Tamil Nadu transfers seniors bureaucrats, Greater Chennai Corporation gets Dr G S Sameeran as new chief
CHENNAI: State govt on Monday carried out a major reshuffle in the bureaucracy, transferring and appointing several senior officers across crucial departments, including municipal administration, energy, transport, water resources and Greater Chennai Corporation and Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority.
According to a govt order, Gagandeep Singh Bedi, who was additional chief secretary to govt, rural development and panchayat raj department, has been transferred to additional chief secretary to govt, municipal administration and water supply department, replacing D Karthikeyan.
Dr G S Sameeran, managing director of Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board (TWAD), is now commissioner of GCC, replacing J Kumaragurubaran.
P Amudha, additional chief secretary to govt, revenue and disaster management department, has been posted as additional chief secretary to govt, cooperation, food and consumer protection department, replacing K S Palanisamy.
Satyabrata Sahoo, principal secretary to govt, youth welfare and sports development department, has been transferred to principal secretary to govt, water resources department. Shunchonngam Jatak Chiru, principal secretary to govt, transport department, has been moved to principal secretary to govt, public works department while continuing to hold additional charge of natural resources.
Anil Meshram, principal secretary and managing director of Tamil Nadu Minerals Limited, has been appointed principal secretary to govt, energy department. M Vallalar, commissioner for Rehabilitation and Welfare of Non-Resident Tamils, has been posted as secretary to govt, transport department.
Among other changes, Prashant M Wadnere, secretary to govt (expenditure), finance department, has been transferred to secretary to govt, rural development and panchayat raj department. G K Arun Sundar Thayalan, special secretary to govt, finance department, has been appointed inspector general of registration.
The reshuffle also saw key appointments in Chennai civic bodies and state agencies.
T Anand, commissioner, Adi Dravidar Welfare, has been posted as managing director of Metrowater. A R Rahul Nadh, director of environment and climate change, has been appointed member-secretary of CMDA.
Dr M Aarthi has been appointed managing director of Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women Ltd.
Meanwhile, Dinesh Ponraj Oliver, inspector general of registration, has been posted as managing director of TWAD Board.
