Tamil Nadu energy secretary Beela files police complaint against estranged husband and ex-DGP Rajesh Das
CHENNAI: The fight between former DGP Rajesh Das and his estranged wife Beela Venkatesan, who is the Tamil Nadu energy secretary, has intensified. Based on a complaint given by her, Kelambakkam police registered a case against him under five sections of the IPC on Monday.
In her complaint, Beela alleged that Rajesh Das and ten others illegally broke into her house in Thalyur Village near Kelambakkam on May 18 and assaulted her security guard Gopi.
She elaborated that the gang snatched Gopi's phone and harassed him for nearly six hours. He was made to clean the toilets and the house and chased away. She claimed that his phone had still not been returned to him.
Beela has also submitted a voice recording of the security guard's complaint. She has requested the police to take necessary action against Rajesh Das and the miscreants and restore her property. The police have begun an investigation into the complaint.
Beela stated that she had already filed a divorce petition against Das which is pending in a sub-court in Alandur.
The complaint added that Rajesh Das had already been convicted in two courts and had a non-bailable warrant for three years imprisonment against him. He has obtained a temporary interim stay on the arrest. "I had earlier secured my personal properties and informed the DGP through a letter dated March 16, 2024" the complaint stated.
She sought protection as she fears that he would attack her.
Police have filed cases under IPC sections 143 (Punishment for a member of an unlawful assembly), 448 (punishment for house-trespass), 454 (Whoever commits lurking house-trespass or house-breaking), 352 (Whoever assaults or uses criminal force to any person otherwise than on grave and sudden provocation given by that person) and 506 (1) (criminal intimidation).
