CHENNAI: The
Tamil Nadu government on Friday reduced the local body
entertainment tax on Tamil films from 10% to 8%, bringing to an end a strike called by the Tamil Film Producers Council (
TFPC
) which suspended release of new films to demand removal of the tax.

Vishal, who met chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami at the secretariat on Friday, announced that theatre owners could no more charge for parking on their premises.
The actor-producer, who is also the general secretary of the state actor body, said online booking charges would soon be waived in an attempt to increase footfall at theatres.
Tamil Nadu Cinema Theatre Owners Federation president Abirami Ramanathan was also present at the meeting.
The TFPC has declared that it will report cases of theatre owners not complying with the new norms. Theatres will have to sell only Amma water which costs Rs 10 and also allow audience to bring their own water.
The TFPC said food and beverage in canteens should be sold at MRP.
