Vetrivel was an ‘epitome of loyalty,’ Dhinakaran says

CHENNAI:

AMMK

general secretary T T V Dhinakaran on Friday dedicated his R K Nagar bypoll victory in December, 2017 to the field work of the party’s treasurer

P Vetrivel

, who died on Thursday due to Covid-19.

In an open letter to AMMK cadre, Dhinakaran said Vetrivel stood as the benchmark for hard work and loyalty. “His hard work and loyalty will not go waste,” Dhinakaran vowed, while urging party workers to emulate Vetrivel and strengthen AMMK in Tamil Nadu.

Recalling the time when former Congress leader G K Moopanar introduced Vetrivel to him about 20 years ago, Dhinakaran said he still remembers the moments when he took Vetrivel to meet Amma (J Jayalalithaa), after the demise of Moopanar. “From that day, Vetrivel remained loyal to Amma. After she passed away, he remained loyal to Chinnamma (V K Sasikala),” Dhinakaran said.

Terming Vetrivel as the “epitome of loyalty”, Dhinakaran said even though he did not approve of Vetrivel’s action in releasing the video clip of Amma (Jayalalithaa) in hospital, the former explained what prompted him to do so. “After seeing the way people accepted it, I was convinced it was a right move,” Dhinakaran said, while praising Vetrivel for standing solidly with him even when the “betrayers” (present AIADMK leadership) were luring AMMK leaders away.
