Woman falls from parapet, dies

Chennai: A 25-year-old woman techie overbalanced and fell to her death while sitting chatting with her husband on the parapet of the terrace of their house at Thirumullaivoyal on Monday night, police said. After preliminary investigations, police ruled out foul play and said the husband was sitting too far away to help when the woman, who had a phone in her hand, shifted on her perch and fell. Police said the wall of the second floor terrace was not wide and that’s why she could have lost her balance.As is mandatory in cases where the couple had been married for less than seven years, the revenue divisional officer will conduct an inquiry. Abirami and Praveen Kumar, 25, had been married for only two-and-a-half years. They have a daughter.The family had gathered to celebrate the birthday of Abirami’s brother. The couple went to the terrace for a chat after dinner and relatives saw them chatting seated on the parapet wall. se balance. Police said that when Abirami fell, Praveen alerted relatives, who rushed to her aid. They found Abirami had landed on her head after hitting a sunshade on the way down.She was rushed to a nearby private hospital for first aid from where she was shifted to Rajiv Gandhi Government General hospital where she was declared brought dead.
