17-year-old boy stabbed to death by three minor boys in drunken brawl in Salem

Salem: A 17-year-old boy was murdered by three minor boys over a drunken brawl in the Kejjalnaicanpatty forest area near Mallur in the city on Sunday night.The deceased has been identified as Gokul, a Class 11 student and a resident of Seelanayakkanpatty. A 16-year-old boy from Maniyanur, Salem, studying in Class 10 at Mallur Government Higher Secondary School; a 16-year-old boy studying in Class 9 at a private school in the same area; and a 16-year-old from Bihar living in Maniyanur, were consuming alcohol in the forest area when Gokul joined them. The three became friends through Facebook while Gokul was related to one of them. An argument broke out between the three drunken boys and Gokul, who scolded them with caste names. Enraged, the three boys stabbed Gokul to death using knives. Hearing a commotion, locals came to the spot to find Gokul lying in a pool of blood while the three boys tried to escape. Two of them were caught by the public and handed over to the Mallur police station. Gokul's body was sent to the Salem govt hospital for a postmortem. Police have registered a case.
