Five drug peddlers arrested in Coimbatore

Coimbatore: Five drug peddlers were arrested and 280 prescribed pills and 135g of ganja were seized from them in front of a school ground at Vellalore Housing Unit in the city on Monday.
The arrested drug peddlers were identified as A Mohammed Riyas, 36, his younger brother A Mohammed Navas, 34, Y Sheik Moidheen, 27, and A Prasanth, 25, all from the Housing Unit at Vellalore, and A Saravanan, 26, from Anbu Nagar at Malumichampatti. All four are habitual offenders.
While Riyas works in a fish market at Ukkadam, Navas is an auto driver, Sheik Moidheen is a welder, and Prasanth and Saravanan are temporary sanitary workers with the Coimbatore city municipal corporation.
Police have formed a special team to arrest one more person who was supplying the contraband items to the five-member gang from Rajasthan.
