Coimbatore: The city corporation has urged shopkeepers who are operating from its facilities through sub-letting from the original beneficiaries to get the shops leased under their names by applying and paying the required fee amounts to the civic body.
The corporation has offered a one-time opportunity for these shopkeepers to get the facility leased in their names, a corporation official said.
The shopkeepers should pay 12 months of the rental amount as advance and as many amounts as name change fee to get the shops registered in their names.
In a recent survey conducted at the city corporation-owned

MGR Wholesale Vegetable Market

, it was found that 25 traders were functioning in the facility sub-let by the original beneficiary. These traders took up the one-time opportunity offered by the corporation and submitted applications. A sum of Rs 57,38,264 was collected from them as advance amount and name change fee.
Corporation commissioner

Raja Gopal Sunkara

has urged shopkeepers functioning in sub-let facilities to approach the city corporation to get the facility registered in their names. Shopkeepers can approach assistant revenue officials from each zone to submit their applications. Documents, including an undertaking and rental bills to prove that they have no pending dues, should be submitted along with the application.
