Court fixes six-month ultimatum for CBI to complete probe in DSP Vishnupriya's death
COIMBATORE: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) shall continue its investigation into the death of woman deputy superintendent of police (DSP)
Referring to the CBI's earlier closure report concluding that DSP Vishnupriya had indeed committed suicide, the court said there were a lot of contradictions in the closure statements. The court also ordered CBI to produce five officials and parents of Vishnupriya before the court to record their statements under the section 164 CrPC.
The defence counsel PR Arulmozhi told media persons that the court had given 12 instructions to the CBI on Thursday, and asked the agency to complete the investigation soon and file the final report within six month period.

It all started with after Gokulraj, was found dead near a railway track in Thiruchengode sub-division in Namakkal district in 2015. He had been beheaded by unidentified persons. While she was investigating the case, the then Thiruchengode DSP Vishnupriya came under severe pressure from different quarters. She was found hanging at her residence in Thiruchengode on September 18, 2015. The state government ordered CB-CID probe into her death. But, on her father M Ravi’s the case was handed over to the CBI.
