Tamil Nadu: Four dead in road accident in Coimbatore

COIMBATORE: Four people, including a woman, died and a man suffered injuries when a speeding mini-truck collided head-on with a car on the L&T bypass near Vellalore-Pirivu here on Saturday morning.


Police said, M Mohammed Bazir, 44, of Palakkad drove the car. There were four more occupants in the car that was coming from Palakkad in Kerala.

When the car reached near Vellalore-Pirivu, a speeding mini-truck coming from the opposite direction collided head-on with it and the front portion of the car was completely mangled which lead to the death of Mohammed and three others.

The Sulur police rushed to the spot and the injured passenger was admitted to a private hospital. The police said the identity of three of the four deceased were yet to be known. They alerted the Palakkad district police.

The police registered a case against the truck driver A Sathish Kumar, 25, of

Vilankurichi

and further investigations were on.
