Woman forges death certificates of parents to sell their land in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: A 39-year-old woman and her husband were arrested on Saturday for forging the death certificates of her parents who were alive and a legal heir certificate, to sell 32 cents of land at Irugur in Coimbatore.The land belongs to R Boopathy, 76, of Pillaiyar Kovil Street at Irugur in Coimbatore.Boopathy's daughter P Malathy, 39, is married to G Praveen Kumar, 41, of EB Colony at Brindhavan Nagar in Adambakkam, Chennai.The couple has been pestering Boopathy to sell his 32 cents of land at Irugur, but he didn't oblige.Meanwhile, Boopathy took an encumbrance certificate at the Singanallur sub-registrar office for his property and learned that it was sold to a person named Mohanraj on August 19, 2024, by Malathy.Malathy has produced the death certificates of Boopathy and his wife along with the registered document.The certificates claimed that Boopathy died on June 15, 2024, and his wife on May 12, 2019.A legal heir certificate was also attached to the document, and Praveen Kumar had signed the document as a witness.When Boopathy asked about the cheating with his daughter and son-in-law, they threatened him with dire consequences.Boopathy lodged a complaint with Singanallur police, who registered a case and arrested the couple on Saturday evening. They were produced before a judicial magistrate and later remanded in judicial custody.
