Gold jewellery stolen from locked house near Pollachi
COIMBATORE: Unidentified people broke into a locked house in a village near Pollachi in Coimbatore district and decamped with gold jewellery weighing 45.5 sovereigns.
The house in Nanjegounden Pudur belongs to Saravana Kumar, a teacher in a government school near Palani. His wife Jayachithra is into real estate business.
The couple and other family members went to Palani on Sunday for a function there.
On Tuesday morning, the security guard of the house found the main door of the house broken and alerted his owners. Saravana Kumar and Jayachithra returned to Nanjegounden Pudur and checked the bureaus. Gold jewellery weighing 45.5 sovereigns were missing.
Cash was also cited as missing. However, the couple had not mentioned the sum of cash missing, police said.
Based on an alert, a police team from Vadakkipalayam reached the house and conducted an inquiry. Three special teams were also formed to crack the burglary case.
