I am sorry Ayyappa song: HM seeks action against Isaivani

Coimbatore: Hindu Munnani members and Lord Ayyappa devotees on Friday petitioned city police commissioner V Balakrishnan, seeking legal action against gana singer Isaivani for hurting the sentiments of Hindus.
A controversy over a song titled ‘I am sorry Ayyappa' that was sung by Isaivani, of Neelam Culture Centre, erupted in Tamil Nadu after it went viral on social media recently.
Although the song was reportedly performed in 2018, it gained widespread attention recently, sparking outrage among the Lord Ayyappa devotees.
"Isaivani is seen wearing a cross while performing the song. A Christian singing a song hurting the sentiments of Hindus could fuel communal tensions between the two religious groups," said Baba A Krishnan, divisional secretary of Hindu Munnani, Coimbatore.
The members of the right wing, chanting slogans in praise of Lord Ayyappa, emphasised on the need for immediate action to prevent such incidents from recurring in future.
Hindu Munnani district president K Dasarathan and various other leaders also met police officers in connection with the issue.
Numerous spiritual organisations and Ayyappa devotees too have voiced their protest against the song and lodged police complaints across Tamil Nadu.
