TNAU to host state-level farmers’ day from Sept 26–29
Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Coimbatore, will be organising a state-level Mega Farmers' Day-2024 from September 26 to 29 on its campus, said vice-chancellor V Geethalakshmi on Tuesday.The event is being organised with support from the state department of agriculture and farmers' welfare and ICAR, New Delhi."The event will cover a range of topics, including micro-irrigation, automated motors, integrated crop protection, natural farming, bank loans, crop insurance, farmer producer organisations, drone technology, tree cultivation, agripreneurship, and digital agriculture," she said.More than 250 stalls will be set up in an exhibition on the campus. The exhibition will feature technological seminars, demonstrations, new crop varieties, crop stimulants, pest resistance agents, organic farming inputs, nanotechnologies, value-addition techniques, digital agriculture, and irrigation equipment.Seminars will be conducted to promote modern agricultural practices. Six farmers from Tamil Nadu will be honoured with the Agricultural Excellence Award. The exhibition will provide insights into climate-adapted agricultural production, artificial intelligence technologies, bank loan procedures for small and marginal farmers, crop insurance schemes and self-employment opportunities. These will be explained by agricultural researchers, scientists, and officials."Admission to the exhibition is free. We expect around 10,000 farmers, agricultural college students, farming enthusiasts, and members of the public to attend," she added.
