ERODE: The Perundurai police are searching for the miscreants who threw crude petrol bombs at a restaurant at Nasiyanur on Salem-Coimbatore national highway on Sunday morning.

Although no one was injured, the thatched roof of the restaurant, two refrigerators and kitchen utensils were gutted in the fire, additional superintendent of police M Janakiraman said. “Some unidentified people, who came in a car around 2am, lobbed bottles filled with petrol at the restaurant, owned by S Arjunan of Nasiyanur, and escaped,” he said.

Passersby alerted the fire and rescue services personnel at Perundurai, who rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire.
