Salem Steel Plant, govt engineering college receive bomb threats

Salem: Salem Steel Plant and the Government Engineering College in Salem received bomb threat emails on Thursday morning, causing a scare in the area.
However, bomb disposal squads conducted comprehensive searches at both the Salem Steel Plant and the Government Engineering College and declared it a hoax threat.
Police said the email was sent from a user named Bandari Mayilsamy, to the plant's executive director and the college principal.
Inspector Govindaraj from the Salem city Bomb Defuse and Disposal Unit (BDDU), undertook extensive inspections throughout all 12 blocks of the college, including key areas such as the principal's office, laboratories, and classrooms, using advanced bomb detection technology. The unit also carried out searches at the administrative office and surrounding areas of the Salem Steel Plant.
