COIMBATORE: Two people died and one was left injured after a car collided with another car coming from the opposite direction on

The deceased were identified as Annamalai, 23, from Zamin Uthukuli, and Vijayakumar, 46, from Nattukalpalayam, Pollachi. The injured person was their friend Muruganantham, 48, from Suleeswaranpatti.
According to the police, they were friends involved in a car dealing business and were en route Madurai to discuss a business deal. At around 7 am, they collided with the other car that was travelling from Madurai towards Pollachi.
“While Annamalai, the driver died on the spot, his friends survived with some serious injuries and were taken to a government hospital in Pollachi. Vijayakumar died at the hospital without responding to the treatment and Muruganantham was taken to a private hospital for further treatment,” the official added.
The other car was driven by Sathish, 34, who was accompanied by his friend. As the car had an air balloon, they survived without any major injuries, the official added.
Alerted by the commuters, Komangalam police recovered Annamalai's body and sent it to the Pollachi government hospital for post mortem. A case was booked and further investigations are on.
