Three graduates arrested for possessing ganja for sales
Coimbatore: The Bazaar police arrested three graduates on Friday evening for possession of 210g of ganja for sales near a Tasmac outlet on Ukkadam-Sundakkamuthur Bypass Road.Police said H Mohammed Afridi, 25, M Mohammed Ashik, 29, and K Riyas Mohan, 26, all from Rose Garden at South Ukkadam. While Afridi who completed BBA was working in a textile shop, Ashik was an engineer and worked at a meat shop. Ashik was also booked in an assault case by the Selvapuram police in 2019. Riyas who completed BSc was working in a hardware company.The trio said they procured the contraband items from B Rohan Freeth, 27, from Ukkadam for their own use and sales.Earlier, sub-inspector Matheswaran and constables Muniyasamy, Lakshmanan and Pitchaimani who were on patrol caught the trio and seized 210g of ganja, three mobile phones and 500 in cash from them. The arrested men were booked under sections 20 (b) (II) (A), 29 (I) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. They were produced before a judicial magistrate and later were remanded in judicial custody. tnn
