Three youths killed in motorcycle accident

Coimbatore: Three youths, including a school student, were killed after the motorcycle in which they were travelling collided head on with a car on the Pollachi – Coimbatore Road near Thamaraikulam on Friday.

The deceased were identified as M Nagendra Bharathi, 19, M Raju, 15, both hailing from VOC Street at Suleswaranpatti near Pollachi and E Babu, 19, from NGGO Colony at Suleswaranpatti. Nagendra Bharathi was a first year Mechanical Engineering student in a polytechnic at Pollachi. Raju was a class X student at the Government Higher Secondary School at Samathur. Babu was working in a hotel at Pudukkottai.

The trio was returning from Kinathukadavu when the incident happened. When they reached Thamaraikulam, Nagendra Bharathi lost control over the vehicle and it crashed into a car coming from the opposite direction. The trio was thrown off from the motorcycle and suffered serious head injuries. They died on the spot.

Car driver M Thangavel was on the way to drop a retired sub-collector’s family in Coimbatore from Udumalpet.

Kinathukadavu police have registered a case.
