Two-wheeler rider dies as tin sheets being carried on pickup van slits his stomach after collision near Gobichettipalayam
ERODE: A man died and another suffered injuries when a two-wheeler they were riding on rammed the rear of a pickup van near Gobichettipalayam in Erode district on Tuesday. The rider died after roofing tin sheets being transported on the pickup van slit his stomach during the accident.
Police said M Kumar of Malayapalayam was driving the pickup van loaded with tin sheets towards Gobichettipalayam. As the pickup van was making a right turn near a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation's depot on the Erode-Gobichettipalayam road, the two-wheeler rammed its rear. Tin sheets caused severe injuries to the rider, killing him on the spot.
The injured man was rushed to government hospital in Gobichettipalayam. The body was sent to the same hospital for postmortem.
The Gobichettipalayam police registered a case.
