Miscreants loot jewellery worth 2.5L from temple

Cuttack: Miscreants decamped with gold and silver ornaments worth over Rs 2.5 lakh from a temple in Telenga Bazar under Purighat police limits on Monday night.Police said miscreants entered the Raghunathjew Temple by breaking the door. They broke open the donation box and decamped with the money. It is suspected that the donation box contained over Rs 1 lakh cash. According to Alok Mohapatra, secretary, Telenga Bazar, the theft came to light around 12 am when the priest, along with a group of people, raised the alarm after finding the main gate of the temple open, locks broken, and the donation box missing. “CCTV footage of the area has been collected. We will verify all details, and efforts are on to nab the culprits,” said Jagmohan Meena, DCP Cuttack.

Women dacoits decamp with valuables worth Rs20 lakh

An agricultural engineer, Raj Anand, returned to his Nagpur home in Swalambi Nagar from a trip to Chandrapur only to find he'd been robbed of Rs20 lakh worth of valuables. Neighbors had spotted a gang of five women breaking into the house earlier in the week and alerted the family.
