HC quashes order on individual’s viva voce test

Cuttack: A single judge order allowing revision of a candidate’s score and conduct viva voce test specifically for him to enable his selection to the post of chemistry lecturer in an aided degree college was quashed by a division bench of Orissa high court, which termed the earlier direction as “not sustainable”.In 2021, the Service Selection Board (SSB) had held an exam to hire lecturers in various subjects, including chemistry, in aided degree colleges. The written test had objective type, multiple-choice questions. Surya Prasad Panda (27) of Bhadrak district moved the court challenging answers of certain questions after failing to qualify in the written test. Following this, a committee of experts of Ravenshaw University recommended different answers in the case of two questions. On Feb 22, the single judge directed the Service Selection Board to conduct a viva voce specifically for Panda after revising his score. On Aug 30, a two-judge bench quashed the earlier order. TNN
