Dehradun: Contractor found to have evaded over Rs 3 crore GST

DEHRADUN: The Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) Commissionerate Uttarakhand has detected a GST evasion of over Rs 3 crore by a manpower service provider firm Ujjwal Shram Sanvida Samiti Ltd in Dehradun. The firm provides services to various government firms.

The intelligence wing found that the firm, headed by Shailesh Verma, didn't deposit the GST. Deepankar Aron, the commissioner of the state CGST commissionerate, said, "The GST evasion is punishable with jail of up to three years as per provisions of CGST Act apart from paying the tax amount along with interest and a penalty, which is equal to the evaded tax."
