Five including four pilgrims from Karnataka injured in accident

UTTARKASHI: Five persons including four pilgrims from Karnataka sustained injuries after the vehicle they were traveling fell into a gorge at Tunalka area of Barkot in

Uttarkashi

on Friday morning.

According to sources, four pilgrims from Kittur (Karnataka) were returning back to their Naugaon-based hotel after completing the

Yamunotri

shrine's yatra on Friday morning when the accident happened. The driver lost the control of the vehicle, which fell into a 50-meter deep gorge at Tunalka region, injuring all five of them. After getting information of the accident, police rushed to the spot and took the injured to the Naugaon hospital, where two critically injured pilgrims were referred to a higher facility in Dehrudun.

Pradeep Tomar, Naugaon police chowki in charge told TOI, “While two Char Dham yatra pilgrims — Prakash Vishwanath Hiremath and Vishwanath Shivshankar Ayyar Hiremath has been sent to

Dehradun

due to critical injuries, the others including — Annpurna Prakash Hiremath, Prema Vishwanath Hiremath and vehicle driver Raju — has been discharged after primary treatment.”
