Dehradun: Thirty-nine pilgrims had a narrow escape on Sunday morning after a Char Dham yatra bus carrying them from Badrinath to Rishikesh overturned near Totaghati in Tehri Garhwal district after a suspected brake failure. Officials confirmed that a few passengers sustained minor injuries, but a major tragedy was averted.
According to State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) officials, three to four passengers who suffered minor injuries were administered first aid at the spot before being shifted to a hospital in Rishikesh. The remaining passengers escaped unhurt.
Upon receiving information about the
accident from the District Emergency Control Room (DECR), SDRF teams from Dhalwala and Byasi immediately rushed to the spot. The rescue operation was led by SDRF inspector Kavindra Sajwan.
