RUDRAPUR: Three drug smugglers found in possession of about 1kg of smack, valued at over Rs 3 crore in the international market, were arrested during a routine vehicle check in Udham Singh Nagar district on Saturday evening.
A team led by Pullbhatta SHO, Ravindra Singh Bisht, intercepted a suspicious car (UP 14 CF 9528) near Shankar Farm Cut area and arrested Sanu Ahmed of Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, Khurshid Hasan, and his wife Asma of Kashipur, Uttarakhand. Police recovered 353g of drugs from Sanu, 355g from Khurshid, and 350g from Asma, all sourced from Rifakat Ali, a known smuggler from Fatehganj West in Bareilly, which was being transported to Sitarganj.
SSP Manikant Mishra said, "Khurshid and Asma are regular offenders and have been arrested several times under NDPS Act. Further investigation is on to track more individuals involved in this drug racket."
