DEHRADUN: The Uttarakhand high court (HC) granted Lalit Mehta, the prime accused in the murder of a farmer in Udham Singh Nagar, a short-term bail of seven days to look after his newborn child and hospitalised wife.
However, the family of the murdered farmer has expressed anguish over the decision, saying that it's a "grave injustice and their lives are in danger now". A brother of the victim also said that the family will stage a protest against the court's decision.
The victim, Sandeep Karki, was killed on May 14. On learning about accused Lalit Mehta's bail, victim's brother Kishan Karki told TOI, "The release of Lalit is shocking for us and our entire family is now in grave danger after his release. We will be staging a protest against the decision of the court."
