NAINITAL/RUDRAPUR: Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankar arrived in Nainital on Thursday and visited the Kainchi Dham of Neeb Karori Baba and performed puja and meditation there. The temple officials welcomed him with a statue of the Baba.

The Vice-President said he is overwhelmed to reach ‘Devbhoomi’ and Kainchi Dham. He praised the maintenance of the temple and said he felt energised by the visit. He added that India has preserved its cultural heritage, tradition, customs even after 5,000 years. He said he prayed for the country’s happiness and prosperity. “Even today, the world is struggling with many problems, but through G20, our objective was placed before the world. Our objective is to create 'one family, one future and one world',” he said.

Afterwards, the Vice President visited GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology in Pantnagar and explored the museum which showcases evolution of the Green Revolution in India. The museum, established in 2021 under the IDP-NAHEP project funded by Indian Council of Agricultural Research, highlights the efforts of the university’s scientists since 1960.

The exhibits include documents, videos, and digital content, illustrating the increase in foodgrain production over six decades from 50 million tonnes to more than 300 million tonnes.

He was accompanied by his wife Sudesh Dhankar and Uttarakhand governor Lt Gen (retd) Gurmit Singh. “Pantnagar is a seat of excellence that has significantly uplifted farmers and will continue to do so through its spirit and excellence,” he said.

Dean of the College of Agriculture, S K Kashyap, who also heads the IDP-NAHEP project, guided him through the museum which honours key figures of Green Revolution such as Norman E Borlaug and MS Swaminathan. Vice-chancellor M S Chauhan showed the university’s agricultural products to the Vice-President.
