24-year-old woman gang-raped at Delhi's Civil Lines party: Drink spiked, beaten, filmed, and threatened with video; police register FIR, accused on the run
NEW DELHI: A woman accused a group of people of drugging and gang-raping her during a party in the Civil Lines area. Police registered an FIR on Monday, but the suspects have not been apprehended yet. A woman was reportedly also a part of the group.
The 24-year-old woman, who works for a private company and lives in Punjabi Bagh area, told police that a friend named Neetu had called and invited her to a party at the Civil Lines home of another friend on Sunday.
According to her statement, when she arrived at the party she saw five people, including her friend and another woman. The group allegedly mixed a narcotic substance into her drink. She claimed she lost consciousness and was then gang raped. The woman also alleged that she was beaten and the assault was filmed.
The accused threatened to upload the footage online if she spoke to anyone about the incident. The suspects fled after leaving her outside the house.
In another incident, a 40-year-old woman was allegedly raped in west Delhi's Mundka area, police said on Wednesday. A 50-year-old driver has been arrested in connection with the case.
The woman, who works in a factory in the area, alleged that she was sexually assaulted at her own home. Officials said they received information around 10-12 days after it took place when the woman lodged a complaint.
