25-year-old woman found dead in Delhi hotel room; hunt on for man who checked in with her
NEW DELHI: A 25-year-old woman was found dead inside a hotel room in north Delhi in the early hours of Thursday. Police are suspecting that she was murdered and are searching for a man who had checked in with her earlier in the day.
According to police, information was received at 12.30am on Thursday that a guest staying in the hotel was not responding despite repeated knocking. The hotel staff alerted local beat officers.
Cops went to the spot and forced open the door with the help of hotel staff.
Officers discovered the woman lying on the bed, partially covered with a blanket. Blood was visible on the bed, raising suspicion of a violent incident. Crime branch and Forensic Science Laboratory were called to examine the scene. Police later identified the deceased as a 25-year-old woman from north east Delhi.
Police said the man allegedly left the hotel at around 5pm after locking the room. When asked if the woman was sexually assaulted a senior police officer said, "Doctor has not opined that."
A family member speaking to TOI said, "She worked as an accountant and returns home by 8pm. When she didn't return, we approached her office and then the police. Her location was traced and we were taken to the hotel where her body was found naked."
