NEW DELHI: Vinay Mishra, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Dwarka, has been appointed as Vice Chairman of the Delhi Jal Board. The Gazette notification for his appointment was issued following the approval of Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena on October 25.
Vinay Mishra represents the Dwarka constituency in the Delhi Legislative Assembly. He was elected as an MLA in 2020, securing 71,003 votes. He holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM).
Along with Mishra's appointment, AAP MLA Ajay Dutt from Ambedkar Nagar and MLA Preeti Tomar from Tri Nagar have been appointed as members of the board.
Previously, AAP MLA Somnath Bharti held the position of Vice Chairman of the Delhi Jal Board. Bharti resigned from the post earlier this year ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
In another development, AAP alleged that former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal faced an attack during a rally in the capital. AAP claimed that "goons" associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were involved in the incident and shared a purported picture from the site.
