DGP Jitender stated that the law will take its course in the ongoing investigation into Tollywood actor Allu Arjun's involvement in the Sandhya Theater stampede. Speaking at the Telangana Police Annual Report 2024 event on Sunday, he declined to comment further, emphasising that the matter is sub-judice and under investigation. A week earlier, Jitender had remarked that while Allu Arjun may be a screen hero, public safety remains the top priority. The stampede, during the December 4 screening of Pushpa 2: The Rule, resulted in the death of a woman, Revathi, and injuries to her son, Sritej. The incident occurred when Arjun arrived at the theatre without permission, and police allege he did not leave despite being informed of the woman's death. In a separate development, members of the OU Joint Action Committee, who had allegedly caused a ruckus by entering Allu Arjun's residence in Jubilee Hills, have now approached Osmania University police, claiming they are receiving threatening calls. Actor Allu Arjun appeared virtually before the Nampally court on Friday as his 14-day judicial remand in the Sandhya Theatre stampede case ended. "Court granted the actor permission to appear virtually considering the potential security challenges that might arise from his physical presence," said his advocate Ashok Reddy.The actor, who is currently on interim bail, was named as an accused in the stampede case along with his bouncers and proprietors and staff of Sandhya theatre. Thirty-five-year-old Revathi had died in the chaos following the benefit show of ‘Pushpa 2' on Dec 4. Her son Sri Tej was severely hurt and was kept on ventilator for many days.
