NEW DELHI: Congress leader Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa launched a sharp critique against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of misleading the public with false promises, particularly towards women in Punjab.
Randhawa pointed out that despite Kejriwal's promises to provide Rs 1,000 to women in Punjab, the AAP government had failed to deliver on this commitment after three years. He challenged Kejriwal to honor his promises in Delhi by providing Rs 2,100 to women as stated under his recent scheme, the 'Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Yojana.'
Randhawa criticized Kejriwal's rhetoric, stating, "He talks very politely but deceives the people. Even his own MLA has said that he has deceived people in Punjab." He further remarked that Delhi residents deserve a chief minister who works for them rather than one who misleads the public.
Kejriwal's recent announcement of the 'Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Yojana' aimed at providing Rs 2,100 to women in Delhi came under scrutiny when the Delhi Women's and Child Development (WCD) department clarified that the scheme had not been officially notified.
Delhi chief minister Atishi claimed that the BJP had exerted pressure on Delhi government officials to implement the scheme, which she labeled as a false notification, pledging action against responsible officials.
On December 27, Delhi's Lieutenant Governor initiated an inquiry into reports alleging that non-government individuals were collecting personal data of Delhi residents in the name of the registration process for the proposed scheme.
