Bengaluru Rain News Today Live Updates: Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah to visit rain-hit areas at 4pm today

Normal life in Bengaluru has been thrown into disarray as heavy pre-monsoon rains continue to batter the city. Waterlogged roads, rainwater entering homes, and massive traffic disruptions have been reported from various parts of the city over the past few days. According to hobby weather watchers, Bengaluru has experienced cloudbursts delivering 15 to 20 cm of rainfall in short bursts, leading to severe urban flooding. Home Minister G. Parameshwara confirmed that the city has seen intense rain for the last three days, a typical pattern during the pre-monsoon season. “Flooding and waterlogging are common during pre-monsoon showers. The BBMP is actively working to clear clogged drains and remove uprooted trees and debris from roads,” the minister said. Commuting has become not just difficult but hazardous, with many underpasses completely submerged. Several weather enthusiasts have taken to social media to urge companies to implement work-from-home policies due to the dangerous road conditions. A viral image posted by the Bengaluru Corporate Club’s official ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) handle captured the dire situation at the Silk Board junction—one of the city's most infamous traffic chokepoints—showing a complete traffic gridlock as early as 7:20 a.m. on Monday, well before peak hours. Videos from the ground reported that the traffic jam at Silk Board stretched nearly 10 km, highlighting the extent of the disruption. Stay with TOI for all the latest updates:
