Tamil superstar Suriya continues his successful theatrical run with 'Karuppu'. Directed by RJ Balaji, the fantasy action drama has maintained a strong hold at the box office despite witnessing a drop on its second Wednesday.'Karuppu' is also being seen as a major comeback film for Suriya after a gap between theatrical successes.

Day 13 collections of 'Karuppu' witness slight dip

According to Sacnilk, 'Karuppu' collected Rs 4 crore net in India on Day 13. The figure represents a 10.1 percent drop compared to Day 12 collections of Rs 4.45 crore net.The film was screened across 4,558 shows on its second Wednesday. With the latest numbers, the total India net collection has reached Rs 163.20 crore. The India gross collection now stands at Rs 188.85 crore.Karuppu also continued its steady overseas performance. The film collected Rs 1 crore gross internationally on Day 13. This has taken the total overseas gross collection to Rs 70 crore.The worldwide gross collection has now touched Rs 258.85 crore.

Tamil version continues to lead

On Day 13, the Tamil version earned Rs 3.30 crore net from 3,141 shows with an occupancy of 23 percent.The Telugu version added Rs 70 lakhs net from 1,417 shows with 17 percent occupancy.
Tamil Nadu alone contributed Rs 3.35 crore gross on Wednesday.Other regions also added to the total collections. Karnataka contributed Rs 28 lakhs gross, while Kerala added Rs 25 lakhs gross. Rest of India collections stood at Rs 3 lakhs gross.

Night shows remain strong

Karuppu continued to perform better during evening and night shows in Tamil markets. The Tamil version recorded an overall occupancy of 23.94 percent on Day 13.Morning occupancy stood at 15.15 percent. Afternoon shows improved to 25.23 percent. Evening occupancy touched 26.46 percent, while night shows peaked at 28.92 percent.The Telugu version recorded occupancy of 10.74 percent. Afternoon shows performed comparatively better with 13.60 percent occupancy. Morning occupancy stood at 8.10 percent, while evening and night shows recorded 11.20 percent and 9.80 percent respectively.
