Special Cell questions bizman in gym murder

New Delhi: Delhi Police's Special Cell has questioned businessman Kunal Chhabra in connection with the killing of businessman Nadir Shah, sources said. There was no clarity on how he was examined given he had fled to Dubai six months ago. Without giving details, an official said that an inspector rank officer examined Chhabra for about 40 minutes.Shah was gunned down by shooters outside his gym in Greater Kailash-I on Sept 12. Investigation revealed that gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, lodged in Gujarat jail, got him bumped off through gangster Hashim Baba, who has been in Mandoli Jail.Baba is currently in the custody of Special Cell and being questioned. The interrogation of Baba has uncovered his clandestine communication with Bishnoi, who is lodged in Sabarmati Jail. Investigators found that Baba made and received multiple phone calls to Bishnoi over two months.Further probe revealed that Baba was in constant contact with his family members and the shooters involved in the Shah murder case, all while behind bars. To destroy evidence, he smashed his mobile phone and flushed it down the jail toilet after instructing the shooters. Baba had deployed another set of shooters to kill Shah in Aug-end. They conducted a recce of the gym but aborted the plan at the eleventh hour on Bishnoi's orders.The main shooters, Madhur and Raju, who executed the killing with help from two others, are still at large. Police have launched a manhunt for another character named Bobby, aka Kabutar, a key henchman of Baba who provided logistics for the killing.Regarding Chhabra, cops said he had been asked to come to Delhi and join the investigation. Police had earlier served him a notice.Chhabra, cops said, was wanted in multiple cases registered by Special Cell and had been on the run. The cell had started probing one of the cases involving Chhabra on the inputs received by FBI. "This network was running an illegal call centre at Rajouri Garden and was involved in large-scale cyber cheating with US citizens on the pretext of tech support for a financial services firm, which offered banking and wealth management related services," an officer said.
