The 2025 Delhi Assembly elections have delivered a dramatic shift in the political landscape of the national capital. As vote counting enters its final phase, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has emerged as the frontrunner, securing six seats and leading in 42 constituencies. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which has dominated Delhi politics for over a decade, has also won six seats but trails in only 16 constituencies. To form a government in the 70-member Delhi Assembly, a party must secure at least 36 seats, a milestone the BJP is poised to achieve. This election has seen significant political upsets, with prominent leaders among the candidates who lost in Delhi elections, marking a shift in voter sentiment and paving the way for new faces to rise to prominence.

BJP gears up to form government as leaders celebrate victory in Delhi elections

With the BJP set to form the next government, party leaders gathered at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi to celebrate. As per reports, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva stated, "The result will be in favour of the double engine government," referring to the party's strategy of aligning both central and state governance under BJP leadership. Sachdeva also indicated that the next Chief Minister would be from the BJP, but the final decision would be made by the party’s central leadership.

BJP MP Yogender Chandolia took to social media to thank Delhi voters, stating, "I thank the people of Delhi for listening to PM Modi’s appeal. Kejriwal has collapsed in all models. It is confirmed that Kejriwal will go to Tihar. He wanted to be the CM, but he is not even going to be an MLA anymore.
