Delhi: Bangladeshi national residing illegally for 3 years arrested, deported

NEW DELHI: During the recent verification drive, Delhi Police arrested a Bangladeshi national, Md Sahidul Islam, who had been living illegally in the south west district of Delhi for three years.

Officials from the Palam Village Police Station detained the individual, who was later handed over to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) for deportation to Bangladesh.

According to police reports, the accused admitted to being an undocumented migrant and was unable to provide valid identification.

Authorities also discovered photocopied documents from Bangladesh in his possession.

The drive, initiated on the instructions of Delhi lieutenant governor VK Saxena, aimed to identify Bangladeshi nationals living unlawfully in the city, said Madhup Tiwari, Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order).

Earlier in the week, two other Bangladeshi nationals, identified as Liyacat (54) and his wife Nasreen (39), were detained during a similar operation by the Safdarjung Enclave Police Station.

Both had been residing illegally in Delhi since 2012 and were deported through the FRRO.

In separate drives, the south west district Police arrested two more Bangladeshi nationals.

Lovely Khatoon Islam, originally from Shankar Pur, Rajshahi, had been living in Delhi for four years before being detained. In another operation conducted by the Vasant Kunj South Police Station, Md Bablu, a resident of Demra village, Dhaka, was arrested.

Both persons were subsequently deported through the FRRO.

These operations highlight the South West District Police's firm stance on illegal immigration and their dedication to enforcing the law.
