Several unprecedented factors prevailing at the same time related to parking, runways and the terminals have made this year even more insufferable for air travellers

“Andar se koi bahar na jaa sake. Bahar se koi andar na aa sake. [Nobody from inside can go out. Nobody from outside can come in.]” These lines from a popular song in the 1973 superhit movie Bobby best describe the situation at New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) during the foggy hours this winter since Christmas.

In this regard, Sunday and Monday (January 14 and 15) were the worst days of the season so far in terms of flight disruptions. On Monday, some 100 flights were delayed and at least 20 cancelled according to the Delhi airport's website.
