Delhi govt extends electric vehicle policy till March 31

NEW DELHI: Delhi chief minister Atishi shared several important cabinet decisions on Thursday, including the extension of the Delhi Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy until March 31, 2025.

Speaking at a press conference, she said the decision was made to tackle poor air quality, and subsidies, along with road tax exemptions for EVs, will resume starting January 1.

"Electric vehicles purchased on Jan 1, 2024, and after will get a subsidy and road tax exemption, which were halted by the BJP when Arvind Kejriwal was sent to jail," she said.

Atishi also announced that the Delhi government has approved a Rs 17 crore grant to the Delhi Scheduled Caste Finance and Development Corporation Limited (DSFDC) to pay overdue salaries to its employees.

Additionally, she introduced a four-year bachelor’s degree program in optometry, which will be offered at a new facility at the Guru Nanak Eye Centre.
