Delhi HC stays online sale of drugs, prescribed medicines
NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has stayed the sale of drugs and prescribed medicines on the internet by online pharmacies.
A bench of chief justice Rajendra Menon and justice VK Rao passed the interim order on a plea seeking a ban on "illegal" sale of drugs and medicines online.
The court had earlier sought responses of the Centre, Delhi government, Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation, Pharmacy Council of India on the petition and listed the matter for further hearing on March 25 next year.
The petition filed by Dr Zaheer Ahmed said the online illegal sale of medicines would lead to a drug epidemic, drug abuse and mis-utilisation of habit forming and addictive drugs.

Who knows medicines are sold illegally online and not offline; there are many cases where misuse of medicines are done offline too. This is protested mainly because common man is getting discounted rates in high rated medicines and the normal offline stores are not able to give those rates and are running low on profit due to it. The benefits of online marketing cannot be skipped in 21st century. One needs to also look that it helps many elderly patients get medicines at thier doorsteps. It's as good as online purchasing of any goods. The government can however bring some rules to regulate the misue of drugs. but complete ban on online pharmacy may bring havoc in life of lacks of customers who prefer buying thier medicines online.Read allPost comment
