NEW DELHI: Lieutenant governor VK Saxena on Saturday visited Bhikaji Cama Place and Nehru Place to take stock of the ongoing revamp work by Delhi Development Authority (DDA).

"(I) visited Bhikaji Cama Place and Nehru Place to take stock of the situation on the ground and the ongoing revamp work. (I have) instructed the officials to complete works at the earliest and ensure existing and prospective cleanliness. (I) will monitor the progress on a monthly basis," the LG tweeted on Saturday.

For the upgradation of two prominent commercial centers in Delhi, DDA has set July 31 (for Bhikaji Cama Place) and June 30 (for Nehru Place) as fresh deadlines.

In its budget for the financial year 2023-24, a provision of Rs 65 crore has been made by the authority for undertaking remaining retrofitting and upgradation work at these two commercial centres.

The main features of the Bhikaji Cama Place upgradation involve facade improvement, basement renovation along with replacement of the firefighting system. At the Nehru Place commercial centre, projects include the upgradation of the public plaza, the construction of tensile structures and 10 new toilet blocks, and arrangements for seating and parking.

"The newly constructed water reservoir for firefighting at Nehru Place will be connected to a DJB line at the earliest and construction of Parking at Bhikaji Cama Place will start within 15 days..." the LG said in another tweet.
