Tarun Kumar, aged 29, a fugitive in a cheating case filed at Lahori Gate Police Station, was apprehended on Thursday. Kumar, who hails from Karnal, Haryana, had been evading authorities since the case was registered in 2019.

According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), the victim Sunil Juneja was persuaded by Mohammed Ashraf to put Rs 1 crore into a scheme, with a promised return of Rs 1.25 crore.

On January 15, 2019, Juneja delivered the money to Kumar and his accomplice Ajeet. Subsequently, all the accused parties, including Kumar and Ashraf, disappeared.

Although Ashraf was initially captured, Kumar and other suspects successfully avoided law enforcement until recently. Through technical surveillance, authorities located Kumar in Karnal, Haryana.
