Police launch Kutumb app for seniors’ safety
New Delhi: On the occasion of International Day of Older Persons, Delhi Police launched the Kutumb app on Tuesday to enhance the safety, security, and well-being of senior citizens in the capital.Lieutenant governor VK Saxena e-released the app in the presence of chief secretary Dharmendra, commissioner of police Sanjay Arora, and other senior officials. The app is designed to provide personalised support to registered senior citizens, using technology to monitor visits, assess vulnerabilities, and address specific needs.Delhi Police has already registered over 65,000 senior citizens, with Senior Citizen Cells set up in all district DCP offices and the Special Unit for Protection of Women and Children. The Kutumb app builds on these efforts, enabling police personnel to conduct regular visits, record health details, and generate vulnerability scores. This data will help in shaping policy interventions and improve geriatric care.A pilot programme in Shahdara and south-west districts successfully monitored over 12,000 visits, incorporating feedback from senior citizens and resident welfare associations. "This app embodies our commitment to ensuring dignity and safety for Delhi's senior citizens," said Saxena.Police said the Kutumb app reinforces their dedication to protecting and supporting vulnerable populations, aligning with the United Nations' theme for the International Day of Older Persons: "Ageing with Dignity".Meanwhile, north district Delhi Police hosted a celebration for International Day of Older Persons at Shah Auditorium, showcasing their commitment to building stronger connections with the elderly community. As the event began, a sea of smiling faces filled the auditorium. Delhi Police Orchestra performed timeless classics, and inspector Ram Manohar's soulful rendition of old songs brought tears of joy to many.
