Dr Seyed Ehtesham Hasnain appointed new vice chancellor of Jamia Hamdard

NEW DELHI: Professor Seyed Ehtesham Hasnain, former member, Scientific Advisory Council to the Prime Minister of India, took charge as new vice chancellor of Jamia Hamdard on Friday.

Hasnain is a former member University Grants Commission (UGC) and the American Academy of Microbiology, USA elected him as Fellow. He was recently conferred with the ICMR’s BR Ambedkar award, the highest award for excellence in biomedical research.

Hasnain taught at the University of Delhi and after his return to India in 1987 joined the National Institute of Immunology (an Institute of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India), and is currently an Invited professor at IIT Delhi where he teaches, has a laboratory and is currently supervising 12 PhD students.
