'Borrowed Rs 30,000': Elderly man kills son-in-law over unpaid loan in Delhi, held
NEW DELHI: A 70-year-old man was arrested for allegedly killing his son-in-law over a monetary dispute in northwest Delhi’s Kanjhawala area on March 16.
Police received a PCR call reporting a quarrel that day. When a local police team reached the spot, they learned that the injured man, identified as Aglu (55), had been taken to a hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
DCP (Rohini) Shashank Jaiswal said the deceased’s wife told police that the quarrel stemmed from a dispute over Rs 30,000 borrowed by them from her father, Dinesh. A case was registered.
An investigation involving local inquires, technical surveillance and human intelligence inputs suggested that the accused might have fled to his native village in Bihar. A team was dispatched to Samastipur, Bihar. Based on secret information, police raided a hideout near Kanjhawala industrial area and arrested the accused.
During interrogation, he confessed to the crime.
Police seized the weapon of offence and the clothes he wore at the time. He claimed he had lent money to his son-in-law for building a house which he failed to repay, leading to a heated argument. The accused allegedly assaulted him with a stick, resulting in his death.
