Fire at Mayapuri factory; no casualties
New Delhi: A fire broke out at a steel-cutting and packing materials factory in the Mayapuri Industrial Area Phase I on Thursday, triggering a partial collapse of the building, officials said.
Delhi Fire Service (DFS) received a call at 11.17 am, following which 18 tenders were rushed to the spot. The blaze engulfed portions of the first and second floors of the basement-plus-two-storey structure, spread over approximately 500 square yards.
During firefighting operations, parts of the first and second floors collapsed, rendering the structure unstable and hazardous.
Fire officials said the blaze was brought under control and completely extinguished by 2.20 pm. No casualties were reported.
