Police said that the victim, Mohammad Umar and his friend, Mohammad Anas, who was riding pillion, were riding dangerously, but they are yet to verify if they were performing any stunts.

Umar’s family said that they woke up around 4am on Tuesday for prayers. Umar then took a Splendor bike and went to drop Anas at his house. “Umar was not riding the KTM bike at the time of the accident. In fact, he had taken my old Splendor to drop Anas. The gears of the bike were faulty and there was no way that anyone could use it to perform stunts,” said Mohammad Nisar, Umar’s uncle.

Anas’s family members said that when they spoke to him, he told them they had left Umar’s house around 5am and gone for a ride a few kilometres ahead. “Anas rode the bike for some time after which he got on the pillion. Around five minutes after Umar started riding, the bike slipped on a waterlogged road and crashed into the wall. The boys hit their heads on the wall,” Nisar said.

The boys, both students of Class VI, were not wearing helmets. A passerby informed the cops about the accident after which they were rushed to a hospital. Umar was declared brought dead while Anas was admitted for treatment.

Umar’s father is going to be booked for allowing a minor to drive without a licence. The bike is registered in his name.
