NEW DELHI: Former Delhi deputy chief minister and AAP leader Manish Sisodia took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday, accusing him of misusing national investigative agencies to target opposition leaders.
Following recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids at the Ludhiana residence of AAP MP Sanjeev Arora and investor Hemant Sood, Sisodia claimed these actions were driven not by corruption charges, but by political motives aimed at weakening the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He said that like a ghost, Modi keeps an eye on whatever Arvind Kejriwal does and is afraid of his growing influence.
In a press conference held on Monady, Sisodia alleged that, "PM Modi has been using central agencies like the ED to harass AAP leaders and members, as he is unable to defeat Arvind Kejriwal or break his morale.
He cited the arrests of Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh and other party leaders as examples of this misuse, and accused the government of attempting to undermine opposition voices ahead of key elections. Sisodia remarked that despite the ongoing raids and arrests, AAP remains strong, adding that the public is increasingly calling for PM Modi to step down after turning 75, signaling a shift in sentiment ahead of upcoming polls."
Earlier today, confirming the raid at the residence of AAP MP Sanjeev Arora in Ludhiana, Sisodia posted on X: 'In the last two years, they have raided Arvind Kejriwal's house, my house, Sanjay Singh's house, Satyendra Jain's house... nothing was found anywhere. But Modiji's agencies are working tirelessly to fabricate one fake case after another.' He further emphasized, 'These people will go to any lengths to break the Aam Aadmi Party. But no matter how hard they try, AAP members will neither stop, nor sell out, nor be intimidated.'
