Man stabbed to death amid snatching bid in Nand Nagri, 3 held
New Delhi: A 42-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death during an attempted snatching in northeast Delhi’s Nand Nagri on Thursday. Three accused have been arrested.
The deceased, identified as Mohammad Anis, was a resident of UP and worked at a public company. He had come to Delhi to visit his in-laws. He was returning to his in-laws’ house around 4 am when the incident took place.
According to police, information was received at the Nand Nagri police station regarding an injured man lying near a cinema hall in the area. A police team shifted him to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead on arrival. Police found that Anis’s mobile phone and certain valuables were missing.
Through CCTV footage and local intel the accused were identified as Asif, Param Shivam and Ravichand. They were subsequently traced and arrested. The trio told cops that they had committed the crime during an attempt to rob Anis, whose mobile phone and Aadhaar card were recovered from their possession. The knife used for the crime has also been seized.
Police found that Asif was previously involved in six cases related to robbery, snatching, theft, and the Arms Act, while Shivam was found involved in nine cases related to robbery and house theft.
